Prop firm rule changes are edits a prop trading firm makes to its own published terms: a profit split cut from 85% to 80%, a consistency rule moved from 50% to 55%, a challenge price raised from $299 to $349, a news window redrawn. They usually land without an announcement, on a help-centre page that only ever shows the current version. Fine Print is Capital Critic's tracker for exactly that. It checks 41 prop firms' pricing, account, rule and FAQ pages every day, and a person reviews every change before it is published with the old and new wording side by side. Since 19 August 2026 it has logged 157 changes.
Disclosure: Some links on this page are affiliate links, and the codes are ours. That never changes what Fine Print records: a change is logged whether or not we have a deal with the firm.
Key takeaways
- What it is: Fine Print is a dated changelog of the terms prop firms publish and then revise, covering prices, account configurations, trading rules and FAQ answers.
- How it works: each firm's public pages are re-crawled daily, every version is archived, and a human approves each change before it goes live.
- The numbers so far: 157 published changes at 41 firms between 19 August and 1 October 2026. 91 of them are rule changes and 44 are price changes.
- Who changes most: FundingPips (33 changes), Tradeify247 (18) and My Funded Futures (11).
- Changes cut both ways: Topstep loosened its consistency target from 50% to 55%, while Goat Funded Futures moved from a 90/10 split "from dollar one" to 80/20 by default.
- It is free: anyone can see the five newest changes. A free account opens the full log, the filters and email alerts.
What counts as a prop firm rule change?

Source: Capital Critic Fine Print. Counts as of 1 October 2026.
A prop firm rule change is any edit to the terms a firm publishes for its challenges and funded accounts. Fine Print files each one under one of four categories, because a price rise and a new drawdown rule matter to you in different ways.
| Category | What it covers | A real example from Fine Print | Published so far |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rules | Drawdown, daily loss, consistency, news trading, minimum days, copy trading, restricted countries | Topstep's Trading Combine consistency target moved from 50% to 55% of the profit target (11 Sep 2026) | 91 |
| Price | Challenge fees, resets, activation fees, discounts, payment and payout fees | E8 Futures' 100K list price went from $260 to $280 (12 Sep 2026) | 44 |
| Account config | Profit targets, profit splits, leverage, account sizes, contract limits | FundingPips' 2 Step Flex reward split went from 85% to 80% (28 Sep 2026) | 17 |
| FAQ | Help-centre answers that change what a rule means in practice | FundingPips: after accounts are merged, the platform and reward cycle now follow the merged account, not the first one purchased (4 Sep 2026) | 5 |

What is Fine Print?

Two live Fine Print entries. Source: capitalcritic.ai/updates, 19 October 2026.
Fine Print is Capital Critic's prop firm changelog: a public, dated record of every change to the terms prop firms publish, with the exact wording from before and after. It exists because a firm's help centre only shows you today's version. Once a line is edited, the old wording is gone from the firm's own site, and so is the proof of what you agreed to at checkout.
How Fine Print tracks prop firm rule changes
- Daily crawl. Each monitored firm's public pricing, account, rules and help-centre pages are fetched every day.
- Archived versions. Every fetch is stored as a version that is never edited afterwards.
- Diff. A new version is compared with the previous one and the changed text is pulled out.
- Human review. A person reads every detected change, decides whether it matters to traders and writes the one-line summary. Page moves, retitles and marketing copy are recorded but never published.
The full method is on our methodology page.
What every Fine Print entry shows
- The firm, and the account model where the change is model-specific (for example "FundingPips · 2 Step Standard")
- The category: Rules, Price, Account config or FAQ
- The market: forex, futures or perpetuals
- The date the change was detected
- The wording before and after, quoted from the firm's own page
- A link to that page on the firm's site, so you can check it yourself
What Fine Print does not track
Fine Print records what a firm publishes about its own challenges and funded accounts, and nothing else. It does not cover industry news, regulation, platform outages or what firms say on social media. If a firm changes a rule only in a Discord announcement and never updates its website, Fine Print will not see it until the website catches up.

FundingPips rule changes
FundingPips has changed its published terms more often than any other firm we track, 33 times in six weeks.
- Minimum trading days went up, then disappeared. On 2 Step Pro, the minimum went from 1 trading day per phase to 2 on 26 August. On 28 September it was removed: "No Minimum trading day per phase to the Master Account."
- 2 Step Standard daily loss: "5% daily loss limit" became "a 3% or 5% daily loss limit" on 28 September. The 10% max drawdown is unchanged.
- 2 Step Flex split: "an 85% split" became "an 80% split" on 28 September.
- Price: a 2 Step Standard challenge listed at $299 now lists at $349 (28 September).
- Prime accounts: the reward share went from 90% to 80% on 17 September. The account also gained a 2% soft daily loss limit and an 8% trailing max loss, replacing the $1,000 end-of-day trailing drawdown.
- News trading: on 26 August the restricted list named "Trump speeches and tweets". A day later that line was replaced by a broader rule on Significant Unscheduled Market Events. We covered it in FundingPips changed its news-trading rule twice in 24 hours.

Why prop firms change their rules

Prop firm terms of service almost always reserve the firm's right to amend them, and the changes in Fine Print show that firms use it often. Three patterns stand out from the first six weeks of data.
- Rules move in both directions. Topstep and My Funded Futures loosened consistency rules, and FundedElite raised a profit split from 80% to 85%. FundingPips, Goat Funded Futures and Blue Guardian cut splits. A tracker that only reported bad news would miss half the picture.
- New rules often apply only to new accounts. Blue Guardian's 9% target applies to accounts bought from 20 August, and FundingPips kept the old minimum-day rule for 2 Step Pro accounts bought before 26 August. Whether a change reaches the account you already own depends on wording like this, so Fine Print keeps the full sentence, cut-off date included.
- Changes come in bursts. FundingPips logged 11 changes on 28 September alone. A firm that is reworking its products can change several rules in a day, and the help centre will not tell you which lines moved.
How to check a prop firm's rules before you buy a challenge

- Open the firm's changelog. Go to Fine Print, filter by the firm, and read what has changed in the last few weeks. A firm with frequent rule changes is not necessarily a bad firm, but you should know before you pay.
- Read the "after" wording, not just the headline. Check who the change applies to: which model, which account sizes, and which purchase dates.
- Check the rules that end accounts. Daily loss, max drawdown, consistency, news windows and minimum days cause most failed challenges and refused payouts. Compare them across firms on the prop firm comparison.
- Check the payout side. Splits, payout fees, minimums and payout schedules change too, as the Hola Prime and Tradeify247 entries above show.
- Turn on alerts for the firms you trade. A rule can change after you buy. Alerts tell you when it does.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a prop firm rule change?
A prop firm rule change is any edit a prop trading firm makes to its published terms for challenges and funded accounts. That includes drawdown and daily loss limits, consistency rules, news-trading restrictions, minimum trading days, profit targets, profit splits, prices and payout conditions. Firms usually make these edits on their website or help centre without announcing them.
How often do prop firms change their rules?
Often. Between 19 August and 1 October 2026, Fine Print published 157 changes across 41 firms, which is more than three a day. FundingPips alone made 33, including 11 on a single day. Most firms change something every few weeks.
Do prop firm rule changes apply to accounts I have already bought?
It depends on the firm and the wording. Some changes apply only to new purchases: Blue Guardian's lower 9% profit target applies to accounts bought from 20 August 2026, and older accounts keep 10%. Others apply to everyone straight away. Fine Print keeps the firm's full sentence, including any cut-off date, so you can see which applies to you.
What is Fine Print on Capital Critic?
